Manual therapy is a procedure used by practitioners that consists of passively moving joints and soft tissues in order to promote blood flow, reduce pain, and improve healing. Another term for this is joint mobilization or manipulation and soft tissue mobilization or specific localized massage.
During your visit, sometimes before and sometimes after you get an adjustment, the Chiropractor or a therapist will use a variety of techniques with their hands to apply controlled pressure to your joints, muscles and fascia. These techniques help improve range of motion and flexibility, manage pain, reduce swelling, or inflammation, and help you feel relaxed.
