X-Ray

X-Ray gives you and the Chiropractor the ability to see the alignment and structure of your spine.

Why Do You Need an X-Ray?

In order to fully understand the quality and condition of your skeletal health, an x-ray should be used by the Chiropractor.

By looking at your spine and joints with x-ray, you will always gather additional information that will help with your treatment plan. In our opinion and clinical experience, the benefits that we gather from x-ray far outweigh the risks.

"To See Is to Know. To NOT See Is to Guess."

When it comes to your health, we don’t guess. We have one of the largest x-ray facilities in any chiropractic facility in the country, with state-of-the-art digital equipment.

Not only is the quality of the x-ray images amazing in their precision and clarity, but the analysis of the x-ray images is what is of upmost importance.

We analyze the x-ray images using two different criteria:

Gonstead Full Spine Analysis

The pelvis is marked and measured down to the millimeter, comparing symmetry and alignment to determine the best mechanical way to correct the subluxations that we find.

The entire spine is visualized as the one continuous structure that it is (not broken up into sections). This enables us to better analyze how one area of the spine is affecting another to enable that we correct the cause of the problem most effectively.

Chiropractic BioPhysics Structural Analysis

The entire spine is then compared to an “Ideal Spine Model.” The spine should have three distinct curves when viewed from the side, and it should be straight when viewed from the front.

These curves are measured, along with the overall balance and posture of the entire spine.

X-ray views can be obtained that enable us to detect possible ligament damage and instability in the neck and lower back to better document the extent of one’s injuries and damage.

We are then able to develop a spinal rehabilitative program to stabilize and correct the problematic areas.

Before & After

Patient Example #1

The focus of this patient was to correct her lower back (lumbar spine). She actually didn’t even come in due to low back pain. Remember, MOST subluxations don’t cause any pain at all!

Notice the dramatic low back curve change in the x-ray on the right.

Patient Example #2

This is the side view of the low back. In the x-ray on the left, the green line is where the normal low back curve should be. The red line shows where this patient’s spine is misaligned.

The x-ray on the right is the follow up x-ray, taken just 3 months into care.

Patient Example #3

After years of playing sports and sustaining various trauma throughout his career, this patient didn’t realize how “translated” his head was over to the left side. You can see by comparing the red and green lines.

These types of postural distortions create a physical load to the spinal cord and the nerves that often times goes on completely ignored by standard chiropractic and medical care.

Patient Example #4

This young man had lost his cervical curve by falling on his head in a pole vaulting injury years ago.

He was experiencing numbness in his left arm and was told that he had two disc herniations in his neck and that he would need surgery. In a matter of 2 weeks, his symptoms were gone, and 3 months later, a follow up x-ray revealed a dramatic improvement to his neck curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

Adverse effects from x-ray radiation in a Chiropractor’s practice are rare. To date, there is no practical evidence that the low level of radiation exposure from x-ray cause cancers or genetic mutations. In conclusion, x-rays can help identify and/or rule out specific injuries and help guide appropriate treatment. In our opinion and clinical experience, the benefits that we gather from x-ray far outweigh the risks.
